It has been studied for years and in every model, the end user ends up paying less with less maintenance. It also works with slums as well as established grids. Take a look at the Pecan Street Project in Austin Texas. http://pecanstreetprojectaustin.org/ I was lucky enough to be there when the program started with the help of Brewster McCracken. A successful model can be seen in all scales of economies, not just the poor. It is definitely the future of energy distribution.

It talks about “As Siberia’s permafrost melts, billions of tons of carbon could escape and heat the planet.” The curious thing is, the “solution” to cooling the planet is the opposite of that in the tropical or warm areas of the world (planting more trees)….they suggest populating Siberia with large animals that will knock down the trees that are there to bring back the grasslands for grazing, and allow things to freeze again. Worth reading.

La verdad es que para mi es totalmente inaceptable que no hayamos aprovechado de el sol en el desierto de una manera significativa. Me da mucho gusto de conocer de este proyecto en Africa, y suena como que lleva el ímpetu para llegar a realidad, en serio es necesario. Afortunadamente en Guatemala hay mucho territorio desértico. Talvez podramos probar nosotros a una pequeña escala.

Despues de unos días de ausencia, regresaré a escribir y contribuir a QuetsolLife.

Creo que este video contiene varios puntos muy interesantes que considero serán importantes. Primero que todo es que la caída en los precios de PV seguirá, y probablemente se acelerará. La realidad es que la entrada de China al mercado ha introducido un sistema completamente diferente de fuerzas de mercado. Muchos escépticos (los que dicen que han estado oyendo de PV por décadas y nunca pasa nada) son incapaces de ver estas enormes fuerzas de mercado que se están desarrollando.

A través de mi propio trabajo en PV, he personalmente vivido un período en el cual los precios han caído considerablemente. Claro, todavía existe un ENORME gradiante entre los precios dependiendo la region (eh, China vs Alemania), pero lo más sorprendente es que esto crea un gran confusión de parte de muchas personas acerca de el costo promedio de un panel. Esto desincentiviza la demanda.

En QUETSOL creemos fuertemente en la tecnología China, hemos tenido buenas experiencias hasta ahora, y es bastante razonable asumir que un productor de PV tan formidable como China tiene que SEGUIR MEJORANDO.
